BUSINESS TRAVEL INSURANCE CERTIFICATE & SUMMARY This is to confirm that: Prof Geoffrey Jameson Date of Travel: 27-30 May 2013 Is Insured under a Travel Policy issued by Vero Travel Insurance, an operating division of Vero Insurance New Zealand Limited to Massey University, Travel Policy Number: ACT4020715. Who is Insured by the Travel Insurance Policy? All employees or directors of Massey University, or persons authorised by Massey University, travelling overseas on business travel (and leisure travel in association with the business travel) (called Insured Persons). Insurance starts from the time you leave home or work to commence travel and continues until you return to home or work, whichever first occurs. What am I Insured for? The Travel Insurance policy contains 12 main Sections with a range of cover. You should refer to Marsh Limited for full details. The following is a brief summary of some of the cover provided by the main sections of the policy. Please note that where values are stated these are New Zealand Dollars. Personal Accident Covers death or permanent loss of use of a limb, eye, ear, etc following an accident. The benefit is $250,000 for adults and $20,000 for dependent children in the event of death. A proportion of the limit is payable for specified injuries which are described in the policy. Medical & Additional Expenses and Cancellation & Curtailment Expenses Medical & Additional Expenses covers reasonable costs necessarily incurred as a result of injury or sickness suffered by an Insured Person during their journey. Cancellation & Curtailment Expenses covers reasonable additional or forfeited costs incurred as a result of death, serious injury or serious sickness of an Insured Person’s Close Relative (except if caused by a pre existing medical condition, which is excluded) or other unforeseen circumstances which are outside the control of the Insured Person. Limit: Unlimited / Excess $75 Loss of Deposits Cover is provided for loss of deposits, paid by Massey University, or an Insured Person, for accommodation or transport, as a result of ‘unforeseen circumstances’ happening prior to commencing the journey, which are outside the control of the Insured Person. There is no cover if the Insured Person cannot travel due to work commitments. Limit $30,000 / Excess $75 Baggage, Business Property, Electronic Equipment and Money/Travel Documents Cover is for accidental loss or damage to personal effects, business property, money or travel documents accompanying you on your journey. In the event of your baggage being lost or mislaid by the carrier for more than eight hours the policy also pays for reasonable replacement clothing and essentials (Deprivation of Baggage). Limits: Baggage/Business Property (per Insured Money/Travel Documents Person) Deprivation of Baggage (necessary reasonable items only) Electronic Equipment** $25,000 (limited to $5,000 any one item) / Excess $75 $5,000 / Excess $75 $5,000 / 8 Hours waiting period and Excess $75 $10,000 / Excess 10% of loss, minimum $250 Please contact Orbit Travel if you require any of these limits to be increased. Cover can be purchased for any one item valued at over $5,000. The premium is 1.5% of the total value of the item. The excess for these specified items is 10% of the loss, minimum $250. Please contact Orbit Travel to arrange cover for such items. Electronic Equipment means personal/business computers, palm pilots, mobile phones (excluding digital cameras) and other similar items which the insurer deems electronic (see also important note overleaf under “what are the main exclusions”). Personal Liability Your legal liability for any injury or property damage you cause and are held liable for. This does not include liability for any non-personal liability, which Massey insures separately. Limit $5,000,000. Massey University - Business Travel Insurance Certificate & Summary - Effective 31 December 2011 1 Rental Vehicle Excess Cover The policy does not insure any Rental Vehicle hired overseas. Therefore you must take the standard insurance cover offered by the hire company, however you are not required to take up any excess buy down they may offer. The policy does provide cover for the excess (up to $5,000) which you may be liable for following an accident involving the rented vehicle, where the rented vehicle is a sedan or other non commercial vehicle hired from a licensed rental/hire company. Travellers responsibilities? The Travel Insurance policy contains a number of exclusions, some of which are highlighted below. However in addition to these exclusions the policy requires you to take all reasonable precautions for the safety and supervision of property. For example, should you knowingly leave your property unattended and it is stolen, you may be in breach of this provision and your claim could be declined. In addition to this, special conditions also apply for to Electronic Equipment and these are provided under the Exclusions section below. What are the main Exclusions? Some of the main exclusions you should be aware of are: Pre-existing medical conditions, but these are only excluded, for the Insured Person, if: (a) a qualified medical practitioner has advised against travel, or; (b) the condition makes you unfit to travel, or; (c) the condition has been diagnosed as terminal, or; (d) the purpose of the journey is to seek medical advice. If you have a pre-existing medical condition and you think that any of (a) to (d) above apply please contact Marsh Limited for advice prior to travel. Any costs arising out of; professional sports, pregnancy expenses (unexpected complications are not excluded), HIV or AIDS, self-inflicted injuries, flying - other than as a passenger in aircraft licensed to carry passengers, war (whether declared or not), invasion or civil war and nuclear events. Financial default of any service provider. Any Insured Person (i.e. traveler) who is 80 years or older. Important note: The insurance excludes claims for theft of Electronic Equipment unless it is kept in a locked room or out of sight in a locked vehicle when unattended. It also excludes claims for loss / damage unless Electronic Equipment is carried as hand luggage on planes and other modes of transport. How do I make a claim? Marsh Limited are Massey’s Insurance Brokers and as such handle all claims and claims related queries other than emergency assistance which is handled by Vero as below. Baggage and Minor Medical Claims Marsh will send you a claim form on request.
