Step-by-Step directions for your
LOUISIANA POSTER MAP
Below are the step by step instructions for completing your Louisiana Poster Map. Check off items as
you complete them.
[ ] Label all parishes in CAPITAL LETTERS
[ ] Draw dots and label all parish seats in UPPER and lower case -be sure to put
them in their proper location.
[ ] Make dots of eight major cities larger
[ ] Put star for state capital
Chest Sheets, Power Points, Extra Dittos
[ ] Draw in and label all rivers, lakes and bayous

[ ] Locate and label all universities on check list
one zero one not LoL
[ ] Locate and label all historical sites on check list
[ ] Locate and label 31st & 33rd parallel and 94th longitude
In “FIND” box type ‘Poster Map’
[ ] Purchase poster board
[ ] Put your NAME on back of poster board
[ ] Color all parishes in the following manner:
Acadian Parishes = all same color (indicate in map key)
Florida Parishes = all same color ( indicate in map key)
All other parishes must be colored in assorted LIGHT colors of your choice
[ ] Cut out each sections
[ ] Lay out sections on your poster board and arrange them BEFORE pasting them down
[ ] Paste or glue to full sheet of poster board
[ ] Put your name on the BACK of poster board
[ ] Draw and label highways
[ ] Create map key shows roads, and all symbols used on your map – may be typed
[ ] Label at least ONE festival for each section of the state, put on Map Key
[ ] Color state symbols -be careful of state flag
[ ] Cut out, paste or glue state symbols - be aware of state flag
[ ] Label state symbols
[ ] Label whole map "Louisiana"
[ ] Recheck front of poster to be sure everything is done
[ ] Put your NAME on the back of poster board
[ ] Turn in DUE DATE ________________________________
FIVE Grades, one each for:
[ ] Overall first impression of map which includes neatness.
[ ] Correctly labeling all parishes and parish seats as per directions
[ ] Correctly labeling all sites and schools as per directions
[ ] Correctly labeling all highways and bodies of water as per directions
