College of Education Assistant/Associate Professor in Elementary Education. The Elementary Education Program in the Department of Childhood Education and Family Studies at Missouri State University Springfield invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position to begin August 12, 2013. The Elementary Education Program offers a Bachelor of Science in Education with certification in Grades 1 to 6. The department has both graduate and undergraduate programs that include programs in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and Child and Family Development. The Greenwood Laboratory School (K12) provides practicum sites for majors. Responsibilities The Assistant/Associate Professor is a member of the ranked faculty who will demonstrate achievement in the areas of teaching, research, and professional service appropriate to the discipline. The primary responsibility of the Assistant/Associate Professor will be teaching undergraduate content methods courses in a growing, fieldbased program with an interdisciplinary team of methods faculty. The Assistant/Associate Professor will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary education including content methods commensurate with the applicant’s content training and experience (e.g. science methods, mathematics methods) and/or related courses face-to-face on the Springfield campus and/or off-campus locations, through distance learning or on-line as fits the needs of the department and the candidate's expertise. The Assistant/Associate Professor will develop and maintain a collaborative relationship with public school constituents and provide clinical supervision for elementary practicum students, interns and student teachers as needed. Consideration will be given to applicants with experience with diverse/or at-risk populations. Knowledge of the teacher work sample as a teacher performance assessment is helpful. The Assistant/Associate Professor will engage scholarly activities beyond those associated with teaching and will be expected to demonstrate professional productivity in research and grant proposal development by having an active research agenda, publishing in peer reviewed national and international journals, and presenting research at national conferences. Earned doctorate from an accredited university in Elementary Education, Teaching and Learning, Curriculum and Instruction, Education or closely related field.
