Important Fetal Pig Dissection Information & Schedule
Supplies:
 Need 100-count non-latex gloves by Tuesday, April 14th
o Can split the purchase with your group
o Found at stores like Walmart, Walgreens, etc.
o Write name(s) on box of gloves – will be kept in
the biology room
 Girls need to bring something to tie back hair on dissection
days
 Some lab coats will be provided, but you shouldn’t wear
nice clothes or shoes on lab days
Schedule:
 We will begin the Fetal Pig Dissection Unit on Tuesday,
April 14th, and ending with a test on Thursday, April 30th .
Generally, we will have an instructional day followed by a
lab dissection day. There are a total of five dissection days.

Attendance:
 You NEED to be here EVERY day during the fetal pig
dissection
 You will receive points nearly every day from beginning to
end of the dissection
 You are required to make up any points you miss if you are
gone for any reason
Points:
 You should expect a short quiz at the end of EACH
instructional day.
 If you miss an instructional day, you need to make
up the quiz the day you get back
 You have 10 points for each dissection day (50 points
total). No points will be deducted if you fulfill all
responsibilities associated with the lab.
 If you miss a dissection day, you need to make up
your lab points by writing a 1 page, double spaced
summary, using 12 point Times New Roman font.
Your summary should describe what happened in
lab, what you should have done, what you should
have learned, what your lab partners did, etc.
Participation:
All students are responsible for:
 Following the lab dissection instructions
 Maintaining a clean work area
 Assisting lab partners with lab duties
 Following all lab rules, written and verbal
 Treating specimens with respect at all times
