Instructions: many of these drawings
have been previously given to you. For
those drawings you do not find, add to
your lab equipment sheet.
Schools use mineral spirits.
Ring clamp: supports beaker on
ring stand.
Screw clamp: supports beaker on
ring stand.
Triple beam balance: measures the mass of
substances.
Stirring rod: glass rod
Petrie dishes: used for growing cultures, holding
biological specimen.
Dissecting pan: Metal pan filled with tar or paraffin used to hold
down specimen with pins.
Dissecting pins: plated steel with T heads that are easy to
place and remove. Ideal for dissection work.
Scalpel: Used in dissection for small incisions, starting
holes for scissors.
Scissors: Used in dissection for larger incisions.
Probe, small: for manipulating small objects in
dissection.
Metric ruler, small: for measuring small objects in
dissection.
Dissection case: holds dissection equipment.
Dropper pipettes: used to measure and transfer small
amounts of liquid.
Microscopes: magnification using light
and lenses to view small objects.
Compound light, monocular: use
with slides (40, 100, 400x)
Compound light, stereo, use
with Petri dishes during
dissections (10, 30x).
