Freshmen News- Two new teachers join our 9th grade team.

Sophomore News- All 10th graders will take the PSAT on October 12, 2011.

All students should be in complete uniform by Tuesday, September 6, 20ll. Freshman Parent Night is September 29, 2011 at
6:30 pm. The 9th grade has three End of Course Tests: Math I (May 3, 2012), Biology (April 24, 2012), and 9th Grade Literature
and Composition (April 30, 2012). Mrs. Sykes is the 9th Grade Team Lead.
Sophomore Parent Night is
September 22, 2011. First semester Math II students take the EOCT on December 6, 2011. Ms. Nunn is the 10th Grade Team
Lead.
Parents can get
GHSGT information as well as transcript evaluations. MANDATORY Writing Workshops on Saturdays in September (9/10,
9/17, 9/24) to prepare for the Georgia High School Graduation Writing Test that is administered September 27, 2011.
American Lit EOCT is April 23, 2012 and US History EOCT is April 25, 2012. Mr. Cox is the 11th Grade Team Lead.
Special Education, and Advanced Placement. The following are new teachers on our extended core team: Senorita Wilson,
Spanish, Ms. G. Williams, Business Education, Ms. C. Hayes, AP US History, Gifted Liaison and SST Chair, Ms. F. Gilley, Special
Education/Mathematics.

Advanced Placement Courses- We are offering a host of Advanced Placement (AP) courses this year:
AP US History,
AP World History, AP Biology and AP Chemistry.

National Hispanic Heritage Month- We will be celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month September 15October 15, 2011.

Bulldog Football- We have a new head football coach, Coach Rodney Hackney and BFI boasts the most football players
in all the schools. We play Stone Mountain on September 9, Riverwood on September 23, North Springs on October 7, and
homecoming at the Georgia Dome against North Atlanta on October 15. Druid Hills and St. Pius games are played on October
22 and 28.

Deficiency Distribution-Deficiency notices for students making a 70 or below will be distributed to
students on September 7, 2011. Please check with your child to see if he/she received one.

Grandparents’ Day is scheduled for Friday, September 16, 2011, at 10:00 am. Please RSVP with Mrs. Cray
by Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Her contact number is 404-802-4630.
Parents come out and participate in “BRING YOUR PARENT TO SCHOOL DAY.” This year the
date for this event is October 28, 2011. Please RSVP with Mrs. Cray at 404-802-4630 in order to participate.
