3. In Fairfield, Montana, on December 24, 1924, the air temperature dropped a record amount. At
noon, the temperature was 63 degrees Fahrenheit. Twelve hours later, the temperature was -21
degrees Fahrenheit. What was the change in temperature?
4. Your class is sponsoring a school dance. Your expenses will be $750 for a disc jockey, $75 for
security, and $40 for advertisements. You will charge $6 per person.
Will your class make a profit if 125 people attend? What if 250 people attend?
5. To convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius, subtract 32 from the Fahrenheit temperature and

and falls about 3 feet every minute for 9 minutes. Write and evaluate an expression that
represents the change in the water depth after 9 minutes. Then find the depth of the water after 9
minutes.
9. The table shows the high temperatures for four days in January in Bangor, Maine. Find the mean
of the temperatures.
