Students will have the opportunity to become a certified personal trainer through the National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM). PEIMS Number: 13020510 General Requirements: This course is recommended for students in Grades 12. UNITS OF STUDY Fundamentals of Human Movement Exercise Science NASM OPT Model Assessments, Training Concepts and Program Design Nutrition and Supplementation Client Interaction and Professional Development Materials Needed: Pen/pencils Journal Workout Clothing Athletic Sneakers Classroom Expectations/Rules School policies will be followed for poor behavior/attendance. Please see your student handbook. No cell phones, music players, or food/drink- Bottles of water are acceptable, but no other food or drink. Cell Phones/music players will be confiscated and taken to the front office if used in class. Grading Policy Class and homework Tests/Quizzes Projects/practicum 25% 50% 25% Make up/Late Work Late work will not be accepted unless you have an excused absence. If an absence is unexcused I will not accept your late work until it is changed in gradespeed. Extra Help My office hours are on Monday-Thursday from 8:00-8:45 Practicum Your practicum experience will be at the North YMCA on either Monday or Wednesday from 911 or 10:00-12:00 starting in October and running until the end of April. Certification Exam You are eligible to take the NASM Personal Trainer certification examination after graduation if you meet the following requirements: Graduate Pass the course with an 80% or higher Pass the final Exam with an 80% or higher Complete the practicum experience
