Seymour Sternberg
Mr. Sternberg served as Chairman of the Board of New York Life Insurance Company from
April 1997 through June 2009. He joined New York Life in 1989 as Senior Vice President,
and held positions of increasing responsibility, including Executive Vice President, Vice
Chairman, and President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to
joining New York Life, Mr. Sternberg spent 13 years at the Massachusetts Mutual Insurance
Company where he was Senior Executive Vice President and held member positions on both
the company’s Office of the Chairman and Board of Directors. From 1999 to 2002, he
served as a U.S. representative to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and Business
Advisory Council. Mr. Sternberg serves on the board of Express Scripts, a pharmaceutical
benefits manager. He is a member of the Business Roundtable serving on its Task Forces
on International Trade and Investment, Security and Fiscal Policy and is a member of the
boards of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Council on Foreign Relations. CIT director
since December 2005.
