Dessert and Drury SIFE make for a tasty combo The Drury SIFE team would like to invite you to Sugar Rush on Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 6:00p.m. -8:30p.m. The Drury SIFE team and The Cake Pop Company are hosting this event. It will be held at the O'Reilly Family Event Center on the campus of Drury University. Sugar Rush is a dessert tasting event where local restaurants and bakeries serve up the most delicious desserts the Ozarks has to offer. All proceeds from this event benefit Care to Learn, a non-profit organization providing immediate funding to children in the Ozarks affected by poverty so they can get back in the classroom. Last year 350 people attended this event raising a total of $8,034 in the span of two hours. This year we want to double those numbers in hopes of making a difference in the lives of children in the Ozarks. Please join us on November 3! Visit www.sgfsugarrush.com for more information. Alumni Spotlight From Blocks to Buildings: An Alumni Profile of Bob Emery '96 Early this year, Corgan Associates, one of the largest U.S. based architectural and interior design firms, named Bob Emery '96 as their new vice president. Emery found his passion in architecture as a result of his grandfather’s guidance. Using lumber and boxes, Emery and his grandfather, a carpenter, built small cities and toys together. This family bonding sparked an interest in architecture that would not leave Emery throughout his education. Now a successful architect, Emery has moved on from building tiny toys to designing massive aviation facilities. His resume' includes terminals at DFW Airport as well as the Abu Dhabi International Airport. But his work has not always consisted of creating his own designs. After the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, Emery spent two months in New Orleans aiding in the relief efforts at the airport. His team was responsible for identifying key buildings necessary for the relief efforts as well as documenting the damage of the airport for insurance purposes. To read entire article, click here.
