ASSIGNMENT THE INTERNSHIP LEARNING PROPOSAL AND EMPLOYER PROFILE (Please note that texts that are bold must be put as titles in your paper, and after writing title, you should write your answers to the related topics). A)INTERNSHIP LEARNING PROPOSAL What do we expect? An internship learning proposal is like a map of your internship. Your Learning Proposal will be helpful in identifying specific opportunities, designing your own internship, and writing your final report. It can also serve as the basis for mutual understanding and expectations between you and your internship sponsor. Once your internship is completed, you can reflect upon your Learning Proposal and assess whether or not your goals were accomplished and if expectations were met. Your internship learning proposal should be 2 pages consisting of the following parts: 1) YOUR MISSION and LEARNING GOALS: Even before you start to search for internship opportunities, you should have asked yourself the question: what is your mission? What do you hope to gain from your internship experience? Articulating what you want to learn from an internship requires some thought. It's a good idea to: Begin with a general idea of what you want to learn, then, refine and develop this idea through discussions with your internship supervisor and faculty sponsor, then write down the results of this process as a number of discrete learning goals. Questions that might help you get started on the process of identifying learning goals are "Why do I want this internship?" "What do I want to learn from it?" More specific questions that might help you identify your learning goals are: Do I want to explore a broad career area, such as work in a radio station or an attorney's office? Or do I want to learn something more specific? What? Do I want to develop new knowledge for myself, such as how to use a new computer program, or how a marketing plan is created? Am I keen to enhance my skills, such as teamwork or advertising layout, or proficiency with a computer program I've used a few times? Do I want to see what it is like to work in a specific sort of setting, such as a multi-national corporation, or a suburban branch office? Do I want the opportunity to see how what I've learned in class is used in the world of work? Your learning goals could be one or any combination of the above, or something different. When you have answers to some of these questions, please write down your learning goals. 2) ACTIVITIES, TASKS AND PROJECTS After you have identified your learning goals, the next step is to work out how these can be reached at the internship site. This involves identifying the sorts of experiences and tasks that are available at the internship site, and seeing how they connect with your goals, through discussions with your site supervisor. The following suggestions should help you identify how you will meet your goals: Discuss with the site supervisor what you hope to learn, and find out what tasks and projects you will have during the internship. Find out how you will be expected to learn - will you work beside staff members, or shadow a worker, or be responsible for a specific project? Keep asking about the tasks and daily activities so that both you and your site supervisor have a shared understanding of what is to be done, and how, and include these activities in your learning proposal. B) EMPLOYER PROFILE What do we expect? Prepare, 2 pages of information consisting of the following information. (You should write it with your own sentences, we do not need any information from the establishment brochures or webpage) - Company Profile: A Company Profile is an important facet in a company's marketing plans and having a well written profile helps in more than one way. The important thing to be kept in mind here is that you should be precise while including all the details about the company. The basics, that is the name and address along with the general information about the company should come first followed by the main services or products that the company offers. Here it would be a good idea to include the mission and philosophy of the company. - Description of the Department: Give brief information about the department that you are working for. The main responsibility of the department in the organization, the number of employees in the section, what they do, and who are the "customers" and "suppliers" of the section.
