Student Services on above given dates at the latest. The Faculties
admit the students. A Certificate of Admission is issued and sent to the
students.

Learning Agreement (recommended)
Visa requirements
After having received the Certificate of Admission signed by the
International Studies Coordinator of the University of Joensuu together
with the relevant information, the student should contact the Embassy
of Finland in order to find out if a visa or residence permit is required.
Additional information on the requirements can be found on the web
site of the Directorate of Immigration: www.uvi.fi. Please note that
tourist visas cannot be extended in Finland.

Students are not allowed to participate in the teaching offered by the
Department of Foreign Languages unless they have been accepted and
registered as majors there.
No minimum or maximum credits. 30 credits per semester is the
expected maximum workload for a full time student.

Health insurance requirements
The University of Joensuu requires that all incoming international
students have a valid personal insurance policy from an internationally
recognised insurance agency for the duration of their stay in Joensuu.
This insurance should cover all costs related to treatment of sudden
illness, accidents and accidental death. Students must present proof of
valid insurance when registering.

Student tutors are responsible for meeting arriving students at the
