Mid Wales Rape Support Centre. Independent Sexual Violence Adviser (ISVA) PURPOSE OF THE POST: To provide advocacy and support services for clients of Mid Wales Rape Support Centre (RSC). JOB TITLE: Independent Sexual Violence Adviser (ISVA) RESPONSIBLE TO: Service Manager PLACE OF WORK: Newtown, Powys SALARY: £22,000 pro rata HOURS: 11 hours / week HOLIDAYS: 25 days pro rata PURPOSE OF POST: To provide advocacy and support services for clients of the Mid Wales Rape Support Centre in Newtown, and throughout mid Wales. MAIN TASKS AND DUTIES: To meet with clients who are referred to Mid Wales RSC and conduct an assessment of each client’s needs. To liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies on behalf of the client To develop individual care plans for clients. If necessary, to support clients during police interviews etc. To provide emotional and practical support, up to and including a court case. To make appropriate referrals for follow-up care. To provide advice and support to family members if requested by the client. To ensure that an effective system of communication exists between management, clients, staff, volunteers and other agencies. To complete all necessary paperwork and maintain records needed for reports. To provide written reports as requested by the manager To attend meetings on behalf of Mid Wales RSC To ensure appropriate and effective promotion of the Mid Wales RSC ISVA Service. To attend regular Supervision To undertake any relevant training as required. To undertake any other reasonable tasks not outlined in this job description but which will assist the aims and objectives of Mid Wales RSC. PERSON SPECIFICATION: ESSENTIAL: Experience of working with trauma Must have a warm and empathic disposition. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work on own initiative. Be able to maintain confidentiality at all times. A commitment to ongoing training, personal development and participation in Supervision. Ability to plan and work under pressure. Proficient in the use of IT systems e.g. Microsoft Word & Excel. A willingness to work outside office hours when necessary. Full clean driving licence and use of vehicle DESIRABLE: Awareness and understanding of counselling issues. Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System. Experience of working in the voluntary sector, providing support and assistance to vulnerable people.
