Desktop Support Engineer – Hong Kong based
Job Purpose


To assist the Head of ICT in ensuring that an effective IT service is
provided globally by supporting all users and maintaining a healthy IT
system.
To propose and implement improvements to the IT infrastructure in
worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

















Provide support to all users of the company’s IT system worldwide to
address queries, resolve systems issues and advise on use of
systems.
Supporting and expanding our office network infrastructure.
Maintaining and monitoring critical business IT resources.
Working with end users to troubleshoot network, hardware and
software issues.
Contributing towards documentation of IT policy and process.
Assisting planning for future expansion and security needs.
Driving improvements in technology and process to improve efficiency
and responsiveness.
Provide training on effective use of hardware and software for new and
existing users of the company’s IT system.
Identify and propose IT process improvements within the Chapman
Freeborn group to ensure optimum use of IT systems.
Deal with queries and issues arising from use of all hand held devices.
Assess functional needs to determine specifications for purchases of
software and hardware.
Order computer supplies e.g. printer cartridges.
Recommends and / or performs upgrades on systems to ensure
longevity.
Carry out maintenance as required for Desktop systems hardware
used in the company.
Assists in maintaining LAN/WAN records and, as appropriate,
telephone systems cable.
Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role and within the
competence of the role holder to include additional hours working when
required.

Skills & Experience






Personal
specification

















Experience of supporting business IT in a medium-sized network.
Network infrastructure skills covering WAN, LAN, VPN, firewalls, wifi,
etc.
Supporting Windows 7/8.1, Windows 2008r2 and MacOS laptops and
workstations.
Supporting Windows 2008 and Linux servers, Active Directory, DHCP
and DNS services, WDS, WSUS, and print services.
Experience with Microsoft Office, various browsers and anti-virus
products.
Experience with Dell computer and laptops, WatchGuard Firewalls
technologies would be advantageous but not necessary.
Remote user support skills.
Strong documentation skills and an attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively.
Support of Blackberry, Android & iOS.
Experience of supporting VOIP technologies.
You'll enjoy solving problems and working collaboratively with internal
staff.
