NATO’s new Strategic Concept fifth live video session on
15 Feb.
Dear Reader,
Please join us on 15 February from noon to 12:40 pm for a special fifth
live video session with parliamentarians from the NATO Parliamentary
Assembly. The discussion will be wide-ranging, and we encourage you
to submit questions on any topic related to NATO’s new Strategic
Concept. Our guests will be:
The Right Honourable Jane Cordy, Vice-President of the NATO
Parliamentary Assembly and Senator representing the province of Nova
Scotia (Canada);
Mr Assen Agov, Vice-President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly
and member of Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria; and
Mr Hendrik Jan ORMEL, Vice-President of the NATO Parliamentary
Assembly and member of Christian Democratic Appeal (Netherlands).
The moderator will be Dr Jamie Shea, Head of Policy Planning at NATO
Headquarters.

How does NATO need to change? (Part 1 & 2)
In this part of looking at how NATO needs to adapt to the 21st century, we look at how it can better connect
with the public, and how this will affect perceptions of the organisation and its operations. We also look at the
different worlds in which the last Strategic Concept was drawn up in 1999 and today's. And we get insight from the
new SACEUR, new US Ambassador NATO and others into how they see the new Strategic Concept evolving.

Minister of Defence of Turkmenistan visit to NATO HQ
12 February 2010
The Minister of Defence of Turkmenistan, Major General Yaylym Berdiyev, visited
NATO Headquarters on Friday 12 February 2010. He met the Secretary General,
Mr. Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
NATO and Turkmenistan actively cooperate in security-related, science and
environmental issues and other areas.
An Individual Partnership Programme (IPP) lays out the programme of cooperation
between NATO and Turkmenistan. Photographs will be available for Media on the
NATO website right after the event.
