Breakdown provided of the defence combinations chosen by the 237 teams entered in the NFFL 2011/12. A
slightly broader array of defence combinations have been picked this year, and the popularity of Man City
continues from last year with 7 out of the top 8 combinations including Man City. Few teams have picked
them overall though.

NFFL 2011/12 Players chosen by Team
Man Utd players are the most popular choice again this season, just slightly ahead of Liverpool players who
are the second most popular choice. Over 80% of teams are guaranteed to include a Man Utd player, and
every team has at least one player from the big five, Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal or Liverpool. Also
over 50% of the players chosen come from these big five Premier League teams.
This year has seen a small but none the less significant increase in the amount of players included in each
team. On average each team chosen contains nearly 9 players, in recent years it has been just over 8.
Having a reasonably strong defensive combination and an abundance of potential goal scorers seems to be
the increasing management trend of the last few seasons.

NFFL 2011/12 Player selection data
Luis Suarez and Javier Hernandez are the clear most popular player picks. Almost 75% of NFFL teams include one of
these players, and over a third of teams include both of them. Last year’s most popular picks Rooney and Drogba have
dropped in popularity, and due to concerns over the future of Tevez in English football only 7 teams have picked him this
season compared to over 90 last year. Many have opted for Aguero (his potential replacement). Overall a slightly wider
range of players have been chosen this season compared to last season.
