NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Emerging and Zoonotic Infections Fostering Liverpool and IGH Talent FLIGHT Meeting A lunchtime meeting with several 20 minute talks followed by discussion on the best ways to engage with policy makers and achieve maximum input for research projects. Prof Jim Scudamore BVSc, BSc, DipECVPH, FSB, MRCVS, Professor of Livestock and Public Health in the School of Veterinary Science was Chief Veterinary Officer from 1997-2004 (and deputy from 1990) will share his considerable experience of scientists working with policy makers and government. Prof Tom Solomon, Director of the Institute of Infection & Global Health, has worked with WHO and the Department of Health over a number of years and will discuss his involvement of working with global and national human health agencies and governing bodies. Dr Sophia Latham, AXA/ IGH tenure track fellow will talk about her involvement in work shadowing government animal health departments and preparing policy briefing notes The NIHR HPRU in Emerging and Zoonotic Infections at University of Liverpool with Public Health England (PHE) brings together internationally leading researchers from the University of Liverpool, Public Health England and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. It supports and strengthens Public Health England in its role protecting England from emerging infections and zoonoses.
