Legislative Update
The Transitional Council for the College of Psychotherapists and
Registered Mental Health Therapists of Ontario has been chosen.
Stay informed by clicking on the following link
www.pas.gov.on.ca/scripts/en/BoardDetails.asp?boardID=141843.
The names of those appointed to the Transitional Council will be
posted here first. Consider joining the OSP Board of Directors in
this exciting first year of the College formation!
AGM
The AGM will start promptly at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 20 at
Oakham House, Ryerson University (55 Gould Street) in the
Thomas Lounge. The AGM registration package has been mailed
out and members should receive it in the mail by October 23. Much
of the information in the package has been posted in the members
only section of the OSP website at www.psychotherapyontario.org,
including the minutes from the 2008 AGM membership and
business meetings, the resolutions being put forward to the
membership this year and the slate of officers for approval.
Resolutions this year are from the Task Force on PeaceMaking
Circles regarding conflict resolution, the Professional Development
Committee regarding CEUs and the Task Force on Legislative
Issues regarding a member levy. Remember that Joyce Rowlands,
Registrar of the Transitional Council of the College of
Psychotherapists and Registered Mental Health Therapists, will be
attending the AGM. This will be followed by a wine and cheese
reception.
Vacancies on the Board of Directors
Currently there are six vacancies on OSP’s Board of Directors for
2009/10. Some positions can be filled by Qualifying members
(Public Relations Chair, Secretary and Treasurer), whereas the
Chairs of the Ethics, Membership and Nomination committees must
be filled by Clinical members. Nominations are now closed.
However, since the slate of officers is incomplete, nominations will
be sought from the floor at the AGM. Members are asked to
volunteer for the vacant positions. Each nomination requires
support from two OSP Clinical members.
Regional Corner in prOSPect
Look for the latest column in the issue of prOSPect in the AGM
mailing. Trish McCracken has been appointed the coordinator of
OSP's Outreach Task Force and has submitted the first article to
the “regional corner,” which will have articles of particular interest to
OSP members living outside of the GTA.
Rooms for OSP AGM and PD event delegates
A block of rooms has been set aside at the Ramada Plaza Toronto
hotel for those attending the OSP AGM and the “Trauma and
Attachment in Psychotherapy” professional development event.
Regional OSP members are encouraged to attend the weekend.
The hotel is located at 300 Jarvis Street (between Carlton and
Gerrard), close to both Oakham house and 89 Chestnut. The cost is
$119 per night for a standard room and $129 per night for a junior
suite. To book a room, please call the hotel directly at 416-9774823. Please quote booking code CGOSP1 to ensure you get the
special rate.
We also have in town members who would be delighted to billet
people in their homes for the Friday night following the AGM. If you
are interested, please call the OSP office at 416-923-4050.
October Board Meeting
As always, all OSP members are invited to the next meeting of the
OSP Board of Directors which will be held on October 30 from 1 to
4 p.m. in the Salon at 400 Walmer Road, Park Tower West (Avenue
Rd. and St. Clair Ave. W, close to the St. Clair West subway
station). Come and find out what it is like to be on the OSP Board.
Please notify the OSP office at 416-923-4050 if you plan to attend
the Board meeting. Remember: Attending the AGM and the Board
meetings qualify as CEU activities for category 4 on your CEU form.
