Delap of Antigua, a merchant, to Benjamin Wickham of Antigua, a gentleman.23 Bezaliel Hodge was married on 9 February 1764 at Mr. Gibbes's residence on St. Croix by the Anglican Minister to Elizabeth Balfe.24 He was President of the British Virgin Islands in 1777.25 Bazaliel Hodge accumulated fifteen estates on Tortola before his death in 1787.26 He wrote a will on 19 June 1787 and it was sworn on 18 August 1787.27 He died on 15 August 1787. 28 He left a widow named Elizabeth. 29 The will was proven 18 September 1789. 30 16 St. John's Anglican Church, Christiansted, Church Book, 1761-1787, Burials. Ruth Hodge, who was born in about 1766, was a granddaughter of Bezaliel Hodge.32 She was married on 14 January 1788 to William Payne Georges, Junior, of Manchester Square, London. 33 His will was dated 23 January 1806 and was proved 21 February 1806. 34 She remarried in September 1808 Pickering Lettsom, who was John Coakley Lettsom's youngest son and was born in about 1782.35 He was a Barrister of the Inner Temple, and in 1808, he was sent as a Judge to Tortola.36 Pickering Lettsom died on 28 October 180837 and was buried in the Friends' burial ground at Fat Hog Bay.38 She died on 24 January 1809 on Tortola. 39 2. Sarah Hodge 1. Frances Hodge was married to George Leonard of Tortola and presumably living on Tortola.43 She died at Peckham, county Surry, England on 7 November 1789.44 2. Sarah Hodge was married on Tortola to John Pickering, Jr.,45 who was the captain of his father's sloop in 1750.46 He arrived on Tortola on 14 February 1750, along with Mary Evanes and Phiba 47 Smith. On 14 May 1750, he departed Tortola destined for Philadelphia, via New York, in his father's sloop, with Richard Ross as Master.48 He made several trips to England.49 In 1762, John Pickering moved to New York.50 ----------------John Hodge was married on St. Croix to Ann:51 Children of John and Ann Hodge: 1. i. 2. ii. Rosina Jane Hodge was born in about 1795.82 4. Bella Hodge was born in 1798.83 5. Jane Rosina Hodge was born on 21 February 1801 and was baptized on 29 June 1814 in the Christiansted Anglican Church.84 6. Justina Jane Hodge was born on 27 March 1802 and was baptized on 29 June 1814 in the Christiansted Anglican Church.85 7. Simon Hodge was born on St. Croix in about 1843 and was a member of the Anglican Church.108 In 1860, he was resident at estate Petronella, East End Quarter, as a 2nd class laborer.109 2. John Hodge was born on St. Croix in about 1853 and was a member of the Anglican Church.110 In 1860, he was resident at estate Petronella, East End Quarter.111 ----------------Christiana Hodge was born on estate Petronella in about 1836 and was a member of the Anglican Church.112 She was at estate Petronella in 1850, given as age 12 and a member of the Anglican Church and a second class laborer.113 By March 1868, she was married to Christian Frederik Harrigan,114 who was born on estate Seven Hills in about 1837 and was a member of the Moravian Church.115 Since at least 1860, they were living unmarried with their two children, at estate Petronella, where they were both considered as first class laborers.116 In 1880, Christiana Hodge's grandmother, Judie Jacksen, who was born at estate Petronella in about 1800 and a member of the Anglican Church, never married, was living with the family at estate Marian Høy.117 Judy can also be found in the 1850 105 St. John's Anglican Church, Christiansted, Church Book, Marriages, 1841-1867, 1861, no. 9.
