Use some materials to make a model of plant by 95% correctly. Qatar Curriculum Standard: 6.2 Know that green plants have roots, stems and leaves and need water and light. Determine what happens to the green plant when it is kept in the dark. Compare plants that are watered regularly with those that are not examine a plant dug up from a garden. Make a model plant. Materials: Some pots of plants. Coloured papers. Glue. Scissors. Worksheets. Some vegetables. Flash cards. Hands lens. They come by feet, bus or car? Then she asks them what do you see during the trip? The teacher elicits the answers from students. Then asks the students do you have a garden in your home? Then she will tell them today our lesson about the plants and the parts of the plant. As a fun activity we will make a model of plant. Teacher Strategies: The teacher will use questions and answers strategy and realia strategy. First the teacher will stick flash cards on the board and she wrote some words on it (stem, roots, and leaves). Then she will ask students to read these words with her help and she will tell them these words are important for our lesson today. Second the teacher will show the students a large pot of plant and ask them what is this? Can you describe it for me? Then the teacher point to the leaves and ask students what is this part? After she elicits their answers. Teacher will point to the stem and ask them what is this part? After that she asks them what else can you see? Does the plant have any part we can not see? Then the teacher will give each group a small pot plant to examine and to see each part. They take the plant out of the pot to allow students to see the roots. Third the teacher will show the students power point about the parts of plant. Then she asks students where do we find the roots? What it is the stem? And what are the leaves? Student Activities: Students should read the words and guess the meaning. Students should work in group to point and describe their plants. Students should work in group to make a model of a plant by using some materials. Students should work individually to finish their work in sheet # 1. Modifications/ Differentiation: Students that need more help will be given a small pot of plant. Teacher explains to them the parts of the plant in their home language. Lesson Extension: The students who finish their activities earlier, the teacher asks them to go to the drawing corner to draw a pant, colour, and label. Closure: The teacher will ask the students some questions such as what we learnt today? What are the parts of plant? Who can show me the roots? Who can show me the leaves? What are the roots? etc Also teacher will ask the students about the needs of plant's growth what do you think water the plant but we kept it in dark? after she elicit the answers the teacher tell the student next lesson we will talk about the needs of the plant and we will make experiment, so I will divide you to three groups each group take a pot plant: Group #1: will be given water sunlight. Group #2: will be given water. Group #3: will be given sunlight. also I will give each students observation sheet and each group should watch and observe the plant a couple of weeks so you should record their observation every day. Assessment: Teacher will grade worksheet #1 & #3 one point each.
