ASSIGNMENT

Answer the question “What does it mean to be a hero” using a visual essay format. You may use Microsoft PowerPoint or another type of software to complete this task. If you have another idea for how to create this visual essay please come see me and we can figure out how to make that work. You need to include the important ideas from this unit about heroes.

We have discussed many different types of heroes, characteristics and traits of heroes, and explored what makes people a hero.

CRITERIA

- You must include a minimum of 5 direct quotations about heroes that support your essay, including proper citation, using quotations, and page references.

- You must include a minimum of 5 personal quotes to support your essay that demonstrate your personal reflections and analysis of characters or symbols.

- The maximum number of words for the entire essay is 75. This includes your quotations and any other information you want to include. The focus is to be on the symbolic representation of what it means to be a hero.

- A minimum of 10 pictures or symbols, one for each direct quote and one for each personal quote or statement, used to represent, visualize, and symbolize that quotation. You need to include the site where you found your images on a reference page.

You may have more than 5 quotes for each section, and more than 10 pictures.

Having more would show effort and would demonstrate how you can extend your thinking.

This is a creative assignment, so visual appeal will also be a substantial portion of your mark.

Please refer to the rubrics for your marking scheme to make sure that you fulfill all expectations of the assignment. There will be a rubric for your writing content, and one for your overall essay.
