Purpose
The purpose of this protocol is to document the process for requesting items from UNSW Faculty of Science Stores

Scope
This protocol applies to the process for ordering items from UNSW Stores. UNSW provides chemical waste cubes and
containers free of charge to UNSW sites. It is also possible to order items such as Lab Glasses and other safety items
through UNSW Stores, although there is a charge applied to these particular items. The scope of this protocol covers how
to request all of these orders through UNSW Faculty of Science Stores.

Procedure for ordering items through UNSW Faculty of Science Stores
4.1. The main contacts at Faculty of Science Stores are Sudhakaran Moorkooth and Lisa Jane Thomas, Tel 9385 2007.
4.2. Before you can order anything from the UNSW Stores, request Lisa Jane or Sudhakaran to set up an account for you.
Bring your UNSW ID and the following Account information to the Stores to facilitate your account set up: Account
Code, Unit, Organisation, Project ID, Fund, Class, Email Address
4.3. The Faculty of Science Stores are located in the basement of the Lowy building. To gain access to these stores by foot
go to Gate 11 of the main Campus on Botany Street. Take the first entrance on your right and then follow the yellow
painted line on the path all the way to the Stores. The Store is located on your left.
4.4. Once you have your account set up, you will receive an automatically generated e mail providing you with your
username and password to logon to UNSW webstore.
4.5. When you require items from the Store go to the following web address: http://webstore.science.unsw.edu.au. Then
click on to welcome to Faculty of Science Store and enter your username and password.
4.6. Once you are logged in, click on Your Orders, click on browse catalogue, from select category dropdown arrow click
on Safety Items, and click on Go.
4.7. Only three items are listed in this group. Click on Add to Basket icon whatever safety item you need eg Waste Cube or
Waste Pale etc.

4.8. From the select category dropdown menu, another category that is very useful is Medical/Safety & Cleaning as items
such as Gloves, Goggles, Lab Glasses, Safety Labels etc. However, if you select any of these items you will be charged
for the items to the account details provided.
4.9. If you want to search all catalogue categories for a particular item, click on the ‘Keyword Search’ Tab rather than the
Select Category Tab and then follow the instructions provided.
4.10. For the first item selected, adjust the quantity to the required amount. Then click to add to basket. If further items are
required, click on Continue Shopping and repeat steps 4.6 – 4.10.
4.11. When all items required have been selected, Click on Proceed to Checkout.
4.12. Put all the necessary details like unit, account, fund, organisation, project etc. In the program field enter 0000 and in the
Subclass Field enter 00. Then click on next.
4.13. Once stores receive and process the order, an email will be sent to you advising that your order is ready to collect.
4.14. Go to Stores to collect your order within the timeframe indicated in the e mail following directions in 4.3above.

5.1. This protocol will be reviewed every two years unless there are changes to the process of ordering in the meantime.
