OBJECTIVES
There are two objectives for this program:
(i) to provide a small amount of funds to groups of researchers to encourage collaboration and the
building of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences research strength areas.
(ii) to support projects which involve external collaboration, and partnership with outside organisations
which will lead to future applications for external funding (such as through ARC Linkage Projects type
schemes).
ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS
Applications which seek to meet the first objective above must come from groups of researchers
representing one or more of the following FASS identified Research Strength areas:
Informing Social Change: Social Policy, Education, and Health
 Criminology
 Health and Wellbeing at the Margins
 Language and Literacy Education
 Cognitive Processes and Education
 Social Policy
Understanding & Doing: Contemporary Humanities and Creative Arts
 Contemporary Philosophy
 Imperial, Colonial and Transnational Histories
 Literary and Cultural Modernity
 Performance Studies
 Screen and Media Studies
Acting Globally: Development, Rights and Security
 Area Studies: Australian, Asian, American, European
 Environmental Humanities & Social Sciences
 Globalisation & Governance, Development and Sustainability
 Human Rights and Refugees
In addition, applications must demonstrate that they are cross-school/centre groupings, and that funds will
help to build collaboration and research outcomes.
Applications which seek to meet the second objective may be submitted by individuals or groups, and must
provide details of external organisations involved in the partnership, including the nature of the collaboration
(new/ongoing), and how the proposed project will be leveraged into a future application for external funding
from a partnership funding scheme, such as ARC Linkage Projects.
Level of Funding
Applications will be considered up to the value of $10,000. The Faculty has a modest amount of funds to
distribute for these schemes, so value for money will be highly regarded.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications should use the appropriate application form provided and adhere to page limits stated
therein. Applications must be submitted by close of business Friday, 28th March 2014
Applications should be submitted to Faculty Research Office via fassresearch@unsw.edu.au.
