HOUSTON, March 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BMC Software, Inc. , a leader in enterprise management, today announced that George Harrington has joined its executive management team as senior vice president and Chief Financial Officer reporting to Bob Beauchamp, president and CEO. In this role, Mr. Harrington is responsible for Finance, Investor Relations, Corporate Development and Information Technology. Most recently, Mr. Harrington served as vice president of Finance for IBM Software Group and was a member of the IBM Senior Leadership Team. Over a career spanning nearly 23 years with IBM, Mr. Harrington has served in a variety of senior financial roles. As vice president of Finance for IBM Software Group, Mr. Harrington was the senior executive responsible for all financial and IT aspects of IBM's $13 billion software organization. Mr. Harrington also served as the Chief Accountant for IBM Corporation. In addition, he served as vice president, Finance for IBM Americas, responsible for all financial aspects of a $38 billion IBM division. Mr. Harrington also served in a range of finance leadership positions for IBM's Americas, Asia Pacific and European operations. Mr. Harrington holds a bachelor's of arts degree and an MBA in Finance from Brigham Young University. Jeff Hawn, senior vice president of Operations, will transition responsibilities to Mr. Harrington immediately. Mr. Hawn has decided to leave BMC Software later this month to pursue other interests.
