Pharmacological cancer research on a glutamine-dependent cell surface, transfer enzyme and its inhibition by an experimental chemotherapy agent, a glutamine antagonist. These studies were carried out by utilizing human pancreatic, breast, and lung tumor cells grown in vitro , and also human tumor surgical specimens, including brain tumors, estrogen - and + breast, small and large cell lung carcinomas, i.e.

Department of Radiology
Research in the areas of both Oncology and Nephrology using radiology as an experimental tool. Tumor blood flow, antimitotic chemotherapy agents, experimental diagnostic imaging agents, and tumor angiogenesis factors were studied in tumor-bearing animals through the use of radioactive microspheres, flouroscopy, magnification angiography, xenon washout, CT body scanning and electromagnetic flow probes. Hypertension was studied using converting enzyme inhibitors, beta-blockers, and angiotensin II antagonists in kidney donors, clinical trials and in animal models.
( TAF studies were done with Dr.
Folkman at Childrens’ Hospital/a recent Nobel Price winner for this TAF work).

Florida, Gainesville (1 Ph.D. Entomology student); University of California at Davis
(1), at Riverside (2).
2. Supervision of eight graduate students from U.M.: Masters of Public Health (6);
International studies (2). Projects included research protocol design, data collection and analysis and preparation of final reports and manuscripts.
3. Supervision and training of 3 minority inner city high school students from Miami,
