Claudia Fernandes, LPC, NCC Claudia Ferrante Fernandes, LPC, NCC is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Health Coach, and a National Certified Counselor. She joins the School Consultation Program at Connecticut Psychiatric & Wellness Center in offering evaluation and treatment services to children and young adults. Claudia also offers individual and group counseling sessions in addition to selected lectures at various locations. Claudia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Villanova University. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, Claudia became a certified teacher and taught in a public school for several years. While teaching, she developed a compelling interest in the impact of health and wellness on academic achievement. For this reason, Claudia pursued a Master of Arts in Applied Psychology from New York University with a focus on improving adolescent health and wellness through a practitioner-based approach. She then worked as a school counselor in a New York City public school offering behavioral, health, and college counseling to students. Later in her career, she opened a new Bard High School Early College with a talented administration and faculty. As a member of the leadership team, she organized school-wide initiatives that concentrated on school climate and the social-emotional development of students as they took on the challenges of an academic program that offered not only a high school diploma but also two years of early college study leading to an Associate of Arts degree from Bard College. Currently, Claudia is finishing her doctorate at Teachers College, Columbia University while working at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence.
