You will have the opportunity to select which productions you would like to audition for. The productions and directors are as follows: ______________________________________________________ Wanted One Groom by Claudene Rease Directed by Evans Paulin 2-Males, 3-Female Crew- Stage Manager, Makeup Artist, Lighting Designer, Costume Designer, Sound Designer Synopsis: Mr. and Mrs. Shand’s meeting through a classified ad brought marital bliss. So why not place a husband want ad for Kayla, their daughter? But the family carries strict requirements: respect for elders, a promising future and an appreciation for antiques. Excited over the prospect, Kayla invites her best friend over to discuss arrangements. The doorbell rings. A young gentleman, who just happens to be eligible, is answering an ad... for an antique statue! But he’s well-mannered, obviously likes antiques and is even studying law! Through a hilarious conversation laced with double meanings, the prospective buyer becomes the prospective groom! The Odd Couple by Neil Simon Directed by Dylan Owen and Jacob Raffety 4-Male, 2-Females Crew- Stage Manager, Stage Crew The two females will need to have somewhat believable British accents and will play male roles. Synopsis: When Felix Ungar and his wife go through a painful divorce, the neurotic neat freak is offered to stay with his best friend, the careless, sloppy, also divorced sportswriter, Oscar Madison. Their clashing personalities and close proximity cause conflict in hilarious way. Oscar desperately attempts to get Felix's mind off of his recent seperation, which goes differently than expected. The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde Directed by Connor Lamb 3-Males, 3-Females Synopsis: Two young gents have taken to bending the truth in order to put some excitement into their lives. Jack has invented a brother, Ernest, whom he uses as an excuse to leave his dull life behind to visit Gwendolyn. Algernon decides to take the name Ernest when visiting Jack's young and beautiful ward, Cecily. Things start to go awry when they end up together in the country and their deceptions are discovered. Selfie by Bradley Howard Directed by Joanna Nguyen and Olivia Nevels 1-Male, 3-Females 2-Either Crew-SM and 2 Stage Crew Members Synopsis: It’s senior year and problems are mounting for a group of high school students as they prepare for the future. Facing bullies, parents, pressure, sickness, and their own self judgment, the characters search for ways to stand out. As they document their year, one click at a time, they come to realize life is not about what other people see — it’s about the pictures they have of themselves. And… by Alan Haehnel Adapted by Hayley Richard Directed by Hayley Richard and Alexa Mooring 1-Males, 3-Females 2-Either Crew- 2-3 crew Synopsis: Aaron has something big on his mind, and he's having trouble getting it off his chest. He grapples with the fact that billions of different moments are happening simultaneously -- the comic next to the tragic, the life changing next to the mundane. Ultimately, he goes through this mental exercise to try to come to terms with the fact that he was playing a video game at the same time something horrible was happening to his sister in the very same house. Fools by Neil Simon Directed by Austin Green and Dwight Taylor 4-Males, 2-Females Every actor must be able to do some accent. It does not matter which accent (cowboy, French, etc...) but you have to be able to do one. Whoever is playing Snetsky/Magistrate must be able to do some accent and a large gospel voice. Crew-Audio, Lighting, Stage, Props Synopsis: A comic fable by Neil SImon set in the small village of Kulyenchikov, Ukraine during the 19th century. The story follows Leon Steponovich Tolchinsky, a school teacher who takes a new job educating Sophia, the daughter of Doctor Zubritsky and his wife, Lenya. Leon soon learns that there is a curse on the village that makes everyone stupid, but complications ensue when Leon falls in love with his pupil. Overtones by Alice Gerstenberg Directed by Kylah Banks 4-Female Crew-Stage Manager, Makeup/Hair/Costume Designers Synopsis: Overtones is a play where there are four women who play two people. Two actresses are the actual women, Harriet and Margaret, who are very cultured women and classy. While two other actresses play their inner selves, Hetty and Maggie, who are very angsty. Hetty is raunchier compared to Harriet, while Maggie is very business-like and straight forward unlike Margaret. This play demonstrates a conversation between Harriet and Margaret, while letting the audience see and hear their inner thoughts. Throughout the play, Harriet and Margaret never talk face to face with their inner selves, but their inner selves talk to them. In this play, Margaret is trying to get Harriet to buy a portrait from her husband, who is a declining artist struggling to feed himself and his wife, while Harriet is trying to get reacquainted with the love of her life, Margaret’s husband. This play deals with who we are on the inside compared to how we act on the outside side. A Better Breakfast at Tiffany’s adapted by Savannah Owens Directed by Savannah Owens 4-Males, 2-Female Crew-Stage Manager, Stage Crew Synopsis: Phil Varjack is a journalist looking for a story. Heather Golightly is an aspiring actress who's hobbies include, visiting Tiffany's, meeting rich fellows and visiting the infamous jewel thief Mr. Diamond in prison. In this adapted version of Breakfast at Tiffany's you can expect to see a rich heir to a hotel company, a mobster meets jewel thief, a friendly yet slightly obnoxious agent, old rivals, an invisible cat, and lots of comedic drama. Check Please: Take 2 by Jonathan Rand Directed by Grace Krull and Jake De La Garrigue 3-Males, 3-Female Crew-Stage Manager, 1 Female and 1 Male Crew Member Synopsis: Soon after their relationship ends, Guy and Girl are forced by their well-intentioned best friends to plunge back into the dating pool. Unfortunately that pool is filled with foot-reading psychics, frustrated polygamists, and extreme accountants. And pirates. But are the blind dates really that unbearable? Yes. Yes they are. The Rabbit Hole Directed by Reagan Johnson and Ethan Mullins 2-Males, 3-Female Synopsis: Becca and Howie Corbett have just suffered a great loss in the death of their four year old son. Becca's irresponsible sister Izzy soon finds out she is pregnant with her boyfriend's child. Becca's mother Nat has been bothering Becca about her grieving process and the teenage driver that killed their son, Jason continues to show up looking for forgiveness. All of these events cause emotional confusion for Becca and Howie. Flowers for Algernon by David Rogers Directed by Elyssa Reaves and Alison Baron 1-Male, 1-Female, 3 Either One of the male roles can be played by a woman. Crew- Stage Manager, 2 Crew members Synopsis: Flowers for Algernon centers around a mentally disabled man named Charlie who volunteers for an experimental operation that has only been successfully tested on one mouse, Algernon. After the operation, Charlie’s I.Q. rises exponentially and he is able to experience life through a clearer point of view, however he discovers it may only be temporary. Finally able to understand the good, and the not-so-good aspects of reality, Charlie learns the importance of knowledge, but most of all he learns that there is something even greater than that: love.
