The switch will prompt you to change the password on the next login. NOTE: passwdDefault not Available in all Versions of FOS The passwdDefault command does not exist in the FOS code lower than v2.6.0, v3.1.0 or v4.1.0. If the switch is running FOS version lower than v2.6.0, v3.1.0 or v4.1.0, you will need to send a request to support@brocade.com to get the password firmware file and recovery instruction as detailed below. Top of page Recovering the User, Admin, Factory or Root Passwords (Root password is unknown) This procedure requires the Password Recovery firmware, which is available from Brocade Support (support@brocade.com). NOTE: Recovery Requests for non-NSS Personnel Only Brocade support will only be fulfilling password and license recovery requests to non-NSS Switch Engineering Support personnel. All other requests to Brocade support will be denied and rerouted to the NSS Switch Engineering Support Team. The Password Recovery firmware is effective only for the first time it is launched. You cannot use the Password Recovery firmware to perform any other switch functions. Therefore, you will need to power the switch off a second time to change the boot parameters back to default and the switch boot from its internal flash. The Password Recovery firmware is unique and can only be applied to the requested WWN. NOTE: Procedure Details Complete procedure details will be supplied along with Password Recovery firmware. To obtain the Password Recovery firmware, please open an elevation to support@brocade.com and provide the WWN and firmware version of the switch along with the customer's name to generate the firmware appropriately. Please note that performing the Password Recovery process will require switch downtime on switches without dual CPs. The Password Recovery procedure requires the switch to be accessible by the host either on an Ethernet network or through an ethernet crossover cable to access the Password Recovery firmware. You will need both a serial and Ethernet connection when performing this procedure.
