JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:

Reporting to:
Children’s Services Information and Data Manager

Location:
Based at Minerva Centre, Burnham Road, Mundon,
Maldon, Essex, CM9 6NP, but providing support to all 22
Children’s Centres across the Mid-Quadrant.
Salary:
£18,000 per annum
JOB PURPOSE

To support the Data Team in ensuring that Children’s Centre Coordinators
have consistent demographic data sets, information and analyses to enable
their effective development and management of the core offer and specific
targeted services to the communities they serve.

To support the Data Team in ensuring that all information is maintained as
current, accurate, valid and consistent at any given time and that, in all
centres, there is active demonstration of development being based upon
evidence of need.

To ensure that field information, including evaluation, feedback, participation
statistics, contribution to National Indicators and customer satisfaction is
provided and effectively managed and reported.

To support the Data Team’s input with Cluster Managers & Targeted Team to
ensure case studies and outcomes are evidenced clearly and in a manner
that can be stored effectively and that they are linked in with local priorities

JOB ACTIVITIES
1. Overview

Data and information for Children’s Centres falls into two main groups:

Local demographic information from a range of sources;

Statistics and evaluative information provided by the children’s centre.
The effective management of the flow of this information is important in ensuring
that Children’s Centres’ Coordinators and their respective governance
arrangements have the necessary data to be able to make informed decisions
regarding the strategic direction of the provision in effectively meeting the specific
needs of the families in their reach area.
2. Strategic
Establish and maintain links with appropriate organisations and services to ensure
that information and data is gathered and shared in a timely way in accordance with
the established strategy.
3. Management
Work with the Data Team on the internal management of the eStart data base and
sustain a working relationship with each Children’s Centre Coordinator to provide
detailed monthly analyses of eStart data, ensuring that:

data is input and managed correctly;

reach and volume are being correctly recorded, monitored and reported;

Super Output Areas are being appropriately targeted;

The marketing strategy of each Children’s Centre has demonstrable links to
eStart information.
Sustain the effective working relationship with Cluster Managers, ensuring that the
eStart data base is used effectively in the recording of outcomes against the Every
Child Matters Framework.
Provide other information and data reports as required by the County Manager,
Head of Children’s Services and 4Children Senior Management Team.

4. Operational
Monitor and update all data sets on a continual basis to ensure that information is
current, accurate, relevant and consistent at any given time.
Maintain links with all Children’s Centre Coordinators to ensure that information
provided is used for the effective gap analysis of Targeted Team Leads and to
ensure that these analyses are responded to jointly by the Children’s Centre and the
Targeted Team.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential

Educated to a good standard.

Excellent communication skills both written and oral.

A good level of computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
and a willingness to expand knowledge and training.

1. Experience of eStart.

PRINCIPAL TERMS & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
DATA ANALYST
1.
Hours of Work
35 hours per week

Duration of Contract
Long Term

Holidays
30 days including bank holidays. 2 days annual leave will need to be taken at
the Christmas period, when the HQ building closes.

Salary
£18,000 per annum
5.
Method of Pay
Salaries are paid by direct debit into the staff member’s nominated bank
account on the 15th day of each month.

Place of Work
Based at Minerva Centre, Burnham Road, Mundon, Maldon, Essex, CM9
6NP, but providing support to all 22 Children’s Centres across the MidQuadrant.
7.
