5th Grade Adopt an Element Project Requirements
Task: To use http://www.webelements.com/ to research your element.
Description: You have selected an element with the atomic number between 630. You are going to research your element for information that will be included
in the report. The following is a list of questions that should be included in your
report. You also need to include a diagram of one atom of your element.
1.) What are the physical characteristics of my element?
2.) What are the chemical characteristic of my element?
3.) Where can it be found?
4.) What are three uses for your element?
5.) Does it belong to a chemical family? (example: steel, copper are the
metal family.)
6.) What friends does it have? (What other elements does it combine with?)
7.) What is its background history? How was it found?
8.) What other fun facts about your element did you find that you would like
to share?
9.) Be sure to include a picture of what your element looks like!
10) Explain why you want to adopt this element!!
5th Grade Adopt an Element Rubric
1.) Rough draft of diagram of atom

and of Charges for protons, neutrons, and electrons.
2.) Element final drawing: atomic number

neutrons in the nucleus.
