Status of student fees collected: Only 3 people turned it in. Deadline: December 1, 2011. Ideas needed to encourage the 2nd year students to turn it in. Welcome Nicole! Blue “Let’s Communicate” Sheets: Students are worried about competition about the new grading scale. Concerned about calling the grade a “C” (when it is above 80%). Ideas to address: - Bring to advisory meeting: 1) Statistics from other community colleges in writing. Bring up grading scale at the next advisory meeting. New 2nd Year Rep: Lesly Louie. Welcome Lesly! Apparel: Reps trying to get the Nursing apparel in the CSM bookstore. Options include pullover, hoodies, t-shirt, or zip-up sweater. Met up with Dave and have designs Two designs for students from 1st year and 2nd year to vote on. Holiday party: Crown Plaza on Tuesday 12/13/11 at 7:00 pm. $15 per person. Collect RSVPs: An e-vite will be going out later on this week with information and RSVP D O N E information. Carolina and Brenda are in the process of working on e-vite. Collect Money: Pay-pal is an option. Checks can be made out to Carolina or Brenda. Christine and Alyssa will be in charge of collecting money from 1st year students. Cake is also an option. Adopt a family for Christmas: (Tanya, Christine, and Miranda) Christine is waiting on information from her aunt. Main places include: Salvation army, JCPenny does it online, Coastside Hope More interested in using Coastside Hope but Christine and Miranda said they would work together to choose. Caminar House: (Rita) December 12 NSA members will get together at 4:30 pm to assemble packages and finalize details. NSA will get together on 12/12/11 to put the packages together. Beth will take boxes to Caminar Pending Helpers needed Pending Hang fliers Fliers are located on the board. Remind students every couple of weeks to bring stuff in. Boxes: Done. Boxes must be checked in Cosmetology department. Mary Kay Fundraiser (Haidee) Has not gotten much of a response. Students encouraged to buy things since holiday is coming up. (Mike, Jackie, Haidee, Sanjani) (Summer, Joey, Cassandra, Aaron) There were some formatting issues. Mike is trying to work out the formatting issue with Alma. Need to encourage more 1st year students to take photos and e-mail to Mike. Webpage Mike talked to Alma about it a couple weeks ago and he will remind Alma the next day. Photos on website to be changed and updated. to-do’s: Kaplan test review: Get a census in class on who is interested in taking an NCLEX Review course from Kaplan. Elsa will check with Jane and check dates. Looking around the 1st week of Nurs 242 If 75% of class (about 38 students) attends NCLEX Strategy Seminar, Kaplan will raffle off One FREE Kaplan Course at the Seminar Snacks will be provided at Seminar Kaplan will offer attendees $75 OFF any Kaplan Complete program (retail cost is $499 – discounted it would be $424) Three-days: eight hours/day. If there are about 15-20 students who are interested, class can be held at CSM During the NCLEX Seminar nurses will learn: How the NCLEX exam is designed What the NCLEX exam is used for How you can prepare for the exam How Kaplan's Qbank provides state of the art test preparation Recent NCLEX Changes How to sign up for a Kaplan NCLEX course Location (Elsa): Cañada College - pending Cañada College has more space than CSM’s Theater. There will be a limit on guests; about 7-8 people per person. Rhea gave a design sample to her friend who just left for the Philippines. He will get reimbursed when he gets back.
