It’s high time to do eye exercises.
Eye exercising keeps your eyes healthy and helps minimize eyestrain.
Eye Exercise 1
First of all, sit down in a comfortable position. Rub your hands together until they
feel warm. Cover your eyes with the palms of your hands. Don’t press the eyeballs. Try to
relax and watch the darkness for 30 seconds. Breathe quietly and deeply all the time.
Eye Exercise 2
Sitting in the same position, look up and hold so for 5 seconds. Then release. Now
look down hold so for 5 seconds. Then, again, release. Make 5 repetitions.
Eye Exercise 3
Now look right, hold for 5 seconds and release. Then look left, hold for 5 seconds and
relax your eyes. Make 5 repetitions.
Eye Exercise 4
Close your eyes as tightly as you can, hold so for 5 second and release. Then open
your eye as widely as you can, hold for 5 seconds and relax. Make 5 repetitions.
Eye Exercise 5
Rotate your eyeballs 5 circles to the left and relax your eyes. Then rotate them 5 circles to the right and also relax.
Eye Exercise 6
Look at the tip of your nose. Don’t be afraid, cross your eyes! Hold for 3 seconds and
relax. Then look up at the ceiling without moving your head, hold for 3 seconds and relax
your eyes. Repeat 5 times.

Find any object which is near you, for instance, the “escape” button and focus on it
for 2 seconds. Then focus far away through the window for 2 seconds. Repeat 10 times.

Texts
1. George Washington was born on February 22, 1732. When he was born, America
was not a country yet. It belonged to England, a country across the ocean. People in America didn’t want to belong to England so they fought a war to become a separate country.
George Washington was an American general in the war. America won the war and picked
a new name for itself: the United States of America. G. Washington was elected to be its
first president.
2. The most famous building is the White House. The President of the USA lives
there, it is a beautiful mansion at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in the middle of Washington,
D. C. It has 132 rooms. You can visit it to see where former presidents lived and worked.
It was burnt in 1814 during the war between the USA and Britain. Then it was rebuilt and
painted white. Before long it became known as the White House.
3. A big white dome stands out against the sky. Huge lights make the dome so bright
at night that you can see it from miles away. On top of the dome you can see the statue of
a woman. It’s called the Statue of Freedom. The Capitol stands on a hill known as Capitol
Hill. Beautiful grounds with grass and trees surround the Capitol. It is a symbol of American democracy. This is where Congress meets to make the laws of the country.
4. The Washington monument is one of the tallest - and skinniest - stone structures in
the world. Inside the Washington Monument there are 897 steps and an elevator. They
take visitors to an observation room near the top of the monument. From there you can see
the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, the Capitol and other sights of the city. It was built
to honor George Washington who guided the nation through war and peace.
5. When you visit any of the Smithsonian’s 16 museums or the National Zoo, you are
entering the world’s largest museum complex. The Institution, an important center for research, is dedicated to public education, national service and scholarship in the arts, science and history. The Smithsonian was established in 1846 with a gift of 500,000 dollars
given to the American people by James Smithson, an English scientist.
6. Designed by an American architect and sculptor Maya Lin, the Vietnam Veterans
Memorial in Washington, D. C., was dedicated in 1982. It features a V-shaped black granite wall with the names of more than 58,000 Americans who were lost during the Vietnam
War (1959-1975).
The National World War II Memorial in Washington, D. C. was completed in 2004.
The oval-shaped Rainbow Pool serves as the heart of the open-air memorial. This view of
the memorial is from the observation deck of the Washington Monument, with the Lincoln
Memorial visible in the distance.
