Dear Paramedic Student,
We would like to congratulate you on your acceptance to the Brigham Young University-Idaho
Paramedic Program for Fall Semester 2014. This is an exciting and rewarding program and we
are pleased to welcome you as a paramedic student.
In order for you to be eligible for the program, you must be a regular student at BYU-Idaho, or
have been accepted to BYU-Idaho before the program start date. Being accepted into the
Paramedic program does not guarantee acceptance into BYU-Idaho, and vice versa. You should
have also completed the minimum prerequisites which include EMT-B Certification, either
National or State, Biology 264 & 265, Math 108 or equivalent and Chemistry 101 or higher.
In this packet, we have included the following checklists:

the master checklist (found on the last page of this document) and check all the completed items
on that list. Everything needs to be done by the first day of class!
You will be granted access to register for paramedic classes for the Fall after the faculty
submits an approval. You will be receiving an e-mail letting you know when you have
permission to register.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. We look forward to your arrival and
placement in our program.
Sincerely,
John Lewis
Paramedic Program Director

You will need to get a background check done through backgroundcheck.com. This is for

completed by the first day of class. So please get started working on this right away.
Plan on having your books the first day of class. If you are not going to purchase them

You will need to purchase EMT dark blue pants, light blue shirt, black boots that can
hold a shine on the toe, black belt, and Caribbean blue hospital scrubs (pants & top).
Please visit the BYU-Idaho Paramedic web site at

needed. The EMT pants and shirt, and hospital scrubs are needed at the beginning of the
first semester.
If you have not started your Hepatitis B series of shots, please get them started early, they
can take up to 90 days.
