Project Progress Report
For
Vacation Property Management

Statement of Project
Vacation property management project provides a sophisticated commercial web
site that will give the client the international exposure that GetawayToPlaya.com, will
need to attract new clients. Management tools will be provided for administration of the
sales and rental properties. This web management tool incorporates a data base of all
available properties (rentals and sales), a link that will introduce a calendar of availability
of the specific rental properties with a pricing according to season, weekly or daily
pricing, a list of contacts, and a general description of the area.
This project incorporates two Microsoft office applications, Front Page® and
Microsoft’s Office Access®. The web pages will utilize Microsoft Front Page® and the
data base that incorporates the web pages is Microsoft’s Office Access®.
Progress To Date
The progression of the project is actually, at this point, ahead of the tentative
schedule. The gathering of the initial information is complete and on schedule and ninety
percent of all images that are required has been collected.
Seventy-five percent of the web pages have been designed and therefore, if there
is a delay in the designing phase, the time allotted for the gathering of images will
compensate for the time lost in the design stage.
The creation of the database phase is in its initiate stage, ahead of schedule. At the
present, the first phases are tentively ahead of schedule so that the progression of the
project has more time for the coding phase.

Difficulties
Project Difficulties: The difficulties associate with this project is that the designer
has the lack of knowledge with designing a web site, databases, and most importantly
binding the web site and the database to become seamlessly unified.
The initial phase of designing a web page was an uneasy task due to the lack of
knowledge of the designer designing a web site and binding it to some type of database.
Another difficulty that must be addressed is that the designer is very unfamiliar
with data bases. Implementation of Microsoft’s Office Access® will become a time
consuming undertaking.
Binding the web site with a database, which in the view of this writer, is the most
difficult element of the project only for the reason of the designer’s lack of knowledge of
HTML, SQL (Structured Query Language used for data bases) and the web site and the
database must work seamlessly.
Encountered Difficulties
Designing of the web pages have been, to this point, relatively easy due to the fact
that there is forth generation software (Microsoft Front Page®) that made implementation
easy without having to learn HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). Nevertheless, some
HTML coding will be needed to manipulate the web pages, although, it should not be a
problem.
Anticipated Difficulties

Time is the only anticipated difficulty that afflicts this project. With the scope of
the project and other academic considerations this designer will stay ahead of schedule in
order to compensate for the latter more difficult phase.
Work Remaining
The work remaining consists of designing the database with incorporated correct
fields. Designing Web Pages, as earlier stated will be completed in advance of the
schedule. The Coding will seize most of the remaining time scheduled. A detailed
outline shall be presented November 22, 2004. and to conclude the project a manual
detailing the procedures of the project and the final manuscript shall be presented
December 16, 2004.

All change that have been made is to allow time to reference the coding needed to
seamlessly finalize the project.
Commentary
At this moment in time, the project is progressing ahead of schedule without the
much anticipated need to gain knowledge of new coding. The time saved not having to
acquire text and learn to implement the necessary features has made this project an
enjoyable learning experience.
