Strategic Plan and Membership Survey Updates—Joyce Wimmer ASID
The 2008 Strategic Plan Budget was balanced at our April planning session. It was
anticipated at that time, however, that changing administrative services would create a
deficit for the coming year.
Considerable effort has been put into finding ways to cover the additional expenditure.
Some budget items have been reduced and some extra tactics now require underwriting.
These changes still left a deficit. A new tactic has been added to the Strategic Plan to
develop a program of IP Chapter Sponsorships. It is planned for this tactic to increase
revenue for the chapter by providing IP members with specific levels of exposure to the
design members of the organization.
We will begin with a modest plan for this year. Over the coming year, we will work to
create a more extensive program that will offer a wide range of opportunities at various
levels of contribution. This program will be used to create a coordinated approach to IP
contributions and reduce the number of committees soliciting donations from our IP’s.
If developed correctly, the program will encourage increased IP membership by
providing our IP members with outstanding exposure to the design community. The
program will follow national guidelines, offering IP’s “first right of refusal” on all
opportunities and charging non-IP’s at least 50% higher rates.
This approach is used extensively and successfully by other chapters across the country
and was highly promoted at CLC as beneficial to both the chapter and its IP members.
Discussion followed on specific tactics.
Joyce Wimmer moved to accept the Strategic Work Plan and Budget, seconded by Joe
Harwood. Motion carried.
Archival proposal update—Annette Mundy ASID and Dana Carlton Flint ASID
Annette Mundy reported that this committee will report further when a computer and
program are added.

Stanek. Mary Carter, Deb Munro, Kristi Burnett, Bill Luxford, Joyce Wimmer, Ric Klaas
and Wayne, Richard White, Ellen Pandorf, Susan McMannama and Margo Pirruccello.
Project Awards—Becky (Kiekow) Rea ASID and Jessica Lindersmith ASID
Project awards are complete and have been awarded for the 2007 NE/IA Project Awards
competition. There were 35 entries which won 22 awards. In detail, 16 were awarded to
Omaha firms/designers, four to Lincoln firms/designers, one to a firm in Iowa City and
one student awards.
The presentation of award certificates at the banquet was a great success! Leonardo’s Art
& Prints was kind enough to donate all of their time and materials to fabricate the
presentation boards and back and shrink-wrap all of our certificates, totaling an estimated
$1200.00! What great support from our Industry Partners!
We will be submitting press releases announcing all of the awards in the Lincoln Journal
Star, the Omaha World-Herald, and hopefully the Des Moines Register, to run this
month. Also, all of the residential awards were published in Omaha Magazine’s
September issue. We did talk with Lifestyle Lincoln regarding running the Lincoln
winners in their fall issue, but, at this time, it was cost prohibitive as it is not currently in
the 2007 NE/IA Strategic Plan.
We have not received all of our costs yet, but according to our estimates, we should end
up very close to our budget if not slightly under.
Kristi Burnett Allied Member ASID—Show House
Showhouse 2008 is underway, the drawing was held Sunday, August 26, all spaces were
filled. The point system seemed to work. Three designers were unable to get a space.
We have a re-measure date set for September 17, 2007, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. A list of
rooms and designers is available at this meeting.
Old Business
