although vs. Despite (Wed. Lab/Week 1)
(even though is another way to say although; in spite of is another way to say despite)
All
of these expressions are used in English to show contrast or to show an
unexpected result. The meaning is the same, but the way we use each expression is
different. Study these examples:

Although Mary felt sick last week, she still went to work.
