1 Introduction
This document specifies the information that shall be possible to report in the solution
delivered by the Monthly production reporting project, and serves as specification for the next
phase of the project which is to develop the XML schemas necessary for the exchange of
monthly production reports.
The first version aims at covering the requirements for reporting to the Norwegian Petroleum
Directorate (NPD), while the next version will also include requirements for partner reporting
regarding monthly production, oil sales and gas sales.
1.1 General principles
In 2005 a solution for Daily Production and Activity Reporting (DPR) was developed. The
deliverables from the DPR project included XML schemas and reference data. The reference
data from the project can be found in the POSC Caesar reference data library (RDL) while the
XML schemas are now included in WITSML v 1.3.1 available at www.witsml.org
The main principle of the Monthly production reporting project is that the DPR deliverables
shall form the basis for the deliverables from Monthly Production Reporting project. This
means that the reference data and XML schemas for Monthly Production Reporting shall as
much as possible build on on the reference data and XML schemas developed for the Daily
Production Reporting project.
The terminology presented in the following parts of this document has been created with the
XML schemas from Daily Production Reporting in mind. This means that the information
elements to be reported are split up into different “kinds” or dimensions. Within each
dimension the valid selections are specified and defined. Each valid selection within a
dimension represents a way of describing an aspect of reported number. This concept is
illustrated in the figures below:

the figure reported is for the “Troll A” platform this has to be reflected in the report.
1.2 Reference Data
The labels, class names and definitions from this project will all be included in the ISO 15926
reference data library. The goal is that there shall be a 1:1 mapping between all the
information elements included in the developed XML schemas and classes in the ISO 15926
library when the project is completed.
2 Terminology
The following paragraphs gives the required terms and corresponding definitions in the
monthly production report. Terms that are covered in the terminology and in the XML
schemas for DPR are to a large extent kept out of this document since the Monthly Production
Report is meant to build on the deliverables from DPR.
