Dear Mr. Smith,
As a second year student at the UC Davis GSM with emphases in Finance & Strategic
Management, I was referred to you by Name Here, Director of Career Services at UC Davis
GSM. I am very interested and eager to conduct informational interviews to find out more about
your company and consulting as an industry or possible career path.
I came across your name on the alumni directory, and was hoping I might have a few minutes of
your time to discuss a career in consulting. While I am seeking a full-time position and am very
interested in Company ABC, my intent in contacting you is purely for informational purposes.
I'm very keen to know more about your experiences. I would appreciate talking with you to learn
more about Company ABC and consulting.
A little about me, my experience is in the financial services industry in Dubai and India. As an
intern this summer, I was working at Ernst & Young evaluating risk management practices
specifically for financial services firms. Prior to my MBA, I was working for ICICI Lombard
General Insurance Company, India as a Relationship (Business Development) Manager in the
Corporate Solutions Group.
I imagine your schedule is very hectic and would greatly value any insight you could offer. If
you have time to speak with me over the phone, in person or even by email, I would very
appreciative. Please let me know your availability in the upcoming weeks.
