It is time to register children for Junior and Senior Kindergarten for the 2015 – 2016 school year.
Children born in 2010 and 2011 are eligible for Kindergarten
If you have a school aged child please come to Mother Teresa Catholic School between the hours of
8:15 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. to register him/her. Please bring with you, your child’s Baptismal Certificate,
Birth Certificate, and Immunization Record. We look forward to working with you, the parents and guardians, to educate and form your child to become the best person he/she can be.

Sacrament of Reconciliation
At 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8th, Grade 2 students of Mrs. Coulter, Mrs. Peirson and Mrs. Halle came together with their families to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In a beautiful ceremony each of the children proudly answered when their “name was called” and then through song, prayer and story were able to share with us the importance of being able to say, “I am sorry” and to ask for forgiveness. Thank you to Fr. Byrne who celebrated Reconciliation with the children and Mrs. Carney for helping prepare the students for this step in their Faith Journey.
Speeches in the Gym
On March 25, 2015 students from grades 3-8 who qualify through in class presentations will be invited to present their speech in the gym as part of our annual Public Speaking Event. We will begin with students from grades 3 and 4 at 9:30am followed by grades 5 and 6. Students from grades 7 and 8 will begin after morning recess at 10:40am.

The EDGE
Students in Grades 5-8 are welcome to join us on Monday Nights from 7-8:30pm at St. Paul the
Apostle Church Hall for The EDGE. Games, crafts, discussions, break out groups, music, and snacks!

Safe and Caring School
Mother Teresa Catholic School students are working to make our school a safe place to learn. Thank you to:
- students who ensure that boots and bags are lined up neatly along the wall in order to eliminate trip hazards
-students who daily hang up their belongings in the classrooms to eliminate trips, slips and falls
-students who wear indoor shoes in the school every day
- student Peer Helpers who assist staff in monitoring activity on the yard each recess
-student helpers who are assisting in the classrooms at lunchtime
- students who report to an adult, an unsafe or disrespectful situation
-students who realize reporting a bullying situation is not tattling
School Climate Survey
Thank you for completing the surveys and helping to ensure that the members of our school community feel a sense of safety and belonging.
EQAO Assessments – Parent Nights
Grade 3 and 6 students have another opportunity to demonstrate their learning and growth when they participate in the annual EQAO assessments. This year the EQAO assessments will occur during the period of Monday May 25 to Friday June 3, 2015. There is a Parent Night scheduled for March 26 at
St Patrick’s Catholic School in Harrowsmith and we will schedule a follow up session here at Mother
Teresa at the end of April. More details about these events will be sent home soon.
Catholic School Council News
On Wednesday, April 15, at 7:00pm the Catholic School Council monthly meeting will be held in the school computer lab. All parents and guardians are welcome to attend.

Student Leadership Team
Our Student Leadership Team has been busy organizing events for our students including the
Valent ine’s Day Red and White Day and candy guessing contest, Outdoor Fun Day and the many Lent activities that will help raise support and awareness for those in need. Thank you to the team.

Grades 5 – 8 Ski Trip to Calabogie Peaks
On a beautiful, sunny,,,,,and cold day, we headed off to Calabogie Peaks with over 112 students, staff and parents on February 23, 2015 . The Calabogie Peak’s excellent graduated ski lessons, prepared students well for the hills. Learning in a safe environment and having fun were the goals reached for the day. Thank you to staff and the many parents who became part of our supervision team. Thank you to students for following the Skier’s Code of Responsibility. Finally a huge thank you to Mrs. Ball for the countless hours she spent organizing this physical activity event.

Congratulations to our school basketball teams. Thank you coaches, Mr. Douglas, Mrs. Urie, Mr. Cox and Mrs. Ball and their volunteer helpers. Your commitment to student engagement is so appreciated.
