Requirements for the Major The major requires five elective finance credit units unless you take both FNCE 601 and FNCE 602, in which case only four credit units of elective coursework in finance is required. If you take FNCE 621 (0.5cu) and FNCE602, the major still requires only four credit units of elective coursework in finance. In addition: a) No more than one credit unit may be an Advanced Study Project (FNCE 890) OR an Independent Study (FNCE 899). b) Courses offered in other departments cannot be counted towards the Finance major unless they have been cross-listed with the Finance Department. In order to apply a cross listed course to the Finance major, you must be registered for the “FNCE” course (bid on the “FNCE” course ID in the auction). c) Courses taken on a pass/fail basis cannot be counted toward the Finance major. A variety of programs can be designed for specific intellectual and career objectives. Several types of specialized programs are described below. These are offered only as suggestions, and students are encouraged to explore whatever interests they have over the broad range of courses offered in the Finance Department. Students should keep in mind that not all courses listed below are offered every semester. Students should check with the Finance Department to verify each semester’s course offerings as well as the professors assigned to those courses.
