(Have 2 new TC that should complete everything this yr: Kelvin Kelm (TX)
and Roger Logan (Al).
AWSA Rule Change Request: Rule 14.01 Dual Citizenships, if skier represents another
country in an international tourn, he/she will not be eligible to set a USAWS
National record for the next 2 years. This rule change is being covered under Rule
Committee Report. This intent was a recommendation from the TC Committee to the BOD
in Jan, 2012. A rule interpretation was posted on AWSA Web Site to clarify that 2
yr period is required if skied for another federation.
IWWF- Rule Change Request: this was submitted in 2012, was not voted on at the IWWF
meeting, will be resubmitted in 2013:
IWWF 13.02 g): An apron shall extend the full length of ramp on the right hand
side and be at least 30cm under water when the ramp is set for the 1.80m height in
Men’s Division. IWWF 13.02 k) The jump apron shall have a minimum angle of 28deg
from perpendicular and a maximum angle of 60deg.
AWSA 9.16.c.6: Aprons shall extend the full length of the ramp and shall be at
least 20 cm (8”) under water when the ramp is raised to its full height.
The recommended apron angle is 30 degrees from vertical.
Recommend changing IWWF rule to match AWSA. 20 cm under water is acceptable.
Technology New:
Splasheye EC boat path monitor. Tested at the AWSA Boat Test and at WPB (April in
a tourn). Still work in-progress, but future requirement for monitoring boat path
live, which needs to be a requirement.
DVRs: Must ensure that all Digital records are set at 30fps. IWWF rule book and
AWSA Rule book needs to be change to address digital recorders.
TCs Clinic: Still in process of working on an Online Clinic for maintenance.
Judge Clinic - Strongly recommend that all Judge’s clinic combine with a Maintenance TC
clinic (to include VJ setup, VT setup, Slalom Gate review and EC video review).
(OUTSTANDING - NOT COMPLETED)
Jump Judges Clinic/Test for 2013: Part of becoming a Reg/Sr jump judge, you had to
demonstrate how to setup jump meter; since Video Jump, most Jump judges do not understand
how to setup VJ Program. The TC Committee will provide some instructions and test
question to the Rule Committee that is to be incorporated into all Jump Judges
Clinic/Test (Reg/Sr). The intent is to ensure that all new jump judges know how to setup
BC VJ program (verify coordinates (X/Y) and know how to mark the buoys). BC setup is
basically same as SplashEye. (OUTSTANDING- NOT COMPLETED)
Future Recommendations for Slalom Timing Chart:
1) With GPS Speed Control, we need to change the timing verification from time base
(sec) to average speed (kps) at each buoy; therefore speed/tolerance is same at
each buoy (only 3 numbers to remember for each speed - min/actual/max speed).
(Jerry’s Recommendation- New school)
2) 56kph (35.1mph); add to slalom timing chart (Jerry-Future for our sport)
