THANK YOU
As you receive this Preaching Plan we will be preparing to say THANK YOU to a number of people who are drawing
towards the conclusion of their ministry time with us in the Truro Circuit.
Revd Jane will be ‘sitting down’ (a quaint Methodist term for retirement!) on September 1st and on the same day Deacon
Tom will begin his new appointment near Manchester. We are hugely grateful to Jane and Tom for the contributions
that they have made to our mission and ministry over the time that they have been with us.
Thanks too to Revd Margaret (as she finally gets to starts….) and Revd Derek (he returns too….) their hard earned
retirements having blessed us in the past 12 months through their Ministries with us.
As our Methodist year comes to its close, we want to express our gratitude also to Jon Creber who has worked alongside
the folk at Threemilestone offering pastoral support to the work there. Jon’s ministry, support by Revd Janet has been
another important part of the team during this unusual year.
On July 14th at TMC (6.15pm) we will hold a Circuit Service to Celebrate Ministry in all its various forms and I encourage
you to make a special effort to be present on that occasion.
WELCOME
We are looking forward to welcoming Revd Sue Golden (Western Cluster) and Revd Mary Mawonera (Eastern Cluster) in
to the Circuit from September 1st. The Central Cluster Ministry Team will include Hannah Bose and Steve Harris and
before the September 1st, will be supplemented by a number of others. We will have a good and varied ministry team in
the Circuit and we thank God for the way that he has led us over these past months. We are delighted that Revd Steve
Wild will lead a service of welcome and commissioning on September 1st TMC (6.15pm)
WORSHIP IN AUGUST
May I offer just a comment on the Plan you have in your hand? For some time now it has become all but impossible to
make the Circuit Preaching Plan as the number of appointments to fill has far outstripped the available preachers. With
all the movement over the summer holiday period it has simply not been possible to make this Plan in the normal way.
At one point it looked like Chapels would need perhaps 8-9 Local Arrangement services over the quarter. I have
therefore taken the decision to encourage united worship wherever possible throughout August. Where it is reasonably
possible for congregations to worship together I have planned for this to happen, with just a single service happening in
most Sections. It is my sincere hope that, given this advanced notice, Stewards will encourage congregations to visit
each other’s chapels. However, should local chapels prefer to arrange extra LWT services, I have no objection to this
being done. Please inform me in advance, if your chapel intends NOT to join with your neighbours.
