Viewing 3D and TIF files by using View Server
I. Operating method
Viewing files of other formats than HTML and GIF is possible by using the files extensions offered
by a given application type.
A basic assumption of generating files in non-standard formats is allowing the system user viewing
documents and drawings in a readable and convenient form. This means allowing accessing files that
are not accessible by using a standard internet viewer. Then, there is necessary installing, on the user
computer, some applications offering a document viewing function for accessing files in given formats.
The applications running on SSVServer allow accessing generating the output files of non-standard
formats depending of their possibilities. There is also possible to set a limitation of the files conversion
to some selected file extensions only.
But HTML and GIF are still the basic files types accessible by using SSV Generator. This means,
that each viewing of document/drawing is performed first as GIF or HTML, and then a document is
given into another form generated on the user demand.
II. Non-standard file formats supported by the CAD applications, when the files are saved

III. Configuring the system in order to activate security
A term of „SSVSERVER” is used here in this description below. This means a computer the SSV
Generator is installed and launched on. In order for a function of viewing documents in non-standard
formats to be functioning properly, it is necessary to properly configure SSVServer as well as the user
computer with DDM/PDM system. Namely:

The file viewers, allowing accessing the files generated by the SSV Generator
should be installed on the customer computer.
Windows Imaging (supplied together with Windows operating system) is a wellfitted application allowing viewing drawings of TIF type.
For 3D drawings generated by CAD programs it is recommended using the
following viewers:
i. VRML Cortona Viewer of ParallelGraphics available at
http://www.parallelgraphics.com
ii. ACIS 3D Open Viewer of Spatial Technology Inc. available at
http://www.spatial.com
iii. Other viewers allowing viewing files by Internet and described in clause
II.

Configuring SSVSERVER
There are fields in SSV Generator configuration indicated as „User Formats” on the
application tabs described in clause II. On each of the tabs you can subsequently

configure any single application. The files extensions taken from the list offered by a
given application should be written into the field, and separated by semicolon.
