It is assumed that a learner entering a programme leading to this qualification has achieved: Communication at NQF Level 3. Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3. Accounting at NQF Level 3. Access to the Qualification: Access to the qualification is open keeping in mind the "learning assumed to be in place". The programme runs sequentially, and each part has to be completed before the next part can be initiated. PURPOSE OF THIS COURSE? A learner assessed as competent against this qualification, will be able to assume responsibility for Credit Management at a middle management level in a variety of organisations in any business sector. The qualification will suit the following people: Credit Controllers. Credit Managers. Collection Managers PBS College – Credit Management Department - Fact Sheet: Part 1 - 4 The qualification is a step in the learning pathway that underpins a career in the Credit Management arena and ameliorates the progression for a career path within an organization. It is intended to empower learners to acquire knowledge, skills, attitudes and values required to operate confidently in Credit Management positions not only in the South African context of the credit arena but also to respond to the challenges of the changing work environment globally. The qualification provides a framework for the application of the guiding principles of Credit Management in the working environment of credit controllers, supervisors, managers and directors of Credit Management functions. COURSE DURATION 4 semesters of 6 months each at a minimum. Exams are written in June and November of each year. The full Part 1 – 4 is a minimum of 2 years and approximately 3000 hours made up as follows: 1500 hours of Theoretical study 1500 hours of Practical work (Workbook Activities & Portfolio of Evidence) STUDY PATH Part 1 & 2 is aligned to the SAQA Certificate in credit management and adheres to strict FASSET and SAQA regulations. Part 3 & 4 are in the process of being aligned to SAQA Unit Standards, and has already been aligned to the quality standards set by FASSET. Each part has been broken into 7 Modules, these are: 1. Research Methodology (Including study tools and techniques) 2. Communication 3. Human Resource Management 4. Business Management 5. Business Law 6. Strategic Credit Management 7. Financial Management Part 4 has an additional Research Paper/Dissertation which will take at least 70 % of the learner’s study time during that semester. Direct the day to day activities of a Credit Management department. 2. Define the Divisional Strategy and Policies. 3. Create and maintain sound client and sales relations. 4. Research macro economic marketing trends and their micro economic implications. 5. Assess, manage and control a debtor's book. 6. Conform to credit legislation. 7. Manage risk and profitability as it relates to Credit Management. 8. Lead & measure a team of people successfully 9. Conduct effective research, test a hypothesis and report meaningful results QUALIFICATION OBTAINED Part 1 & Part 2: After completion of the first year, a certificate of attendance will be issued to each learner who successfully complies with the SAQA standards, will receive the SAQA FET Certificate: Credit Management. In Addition, the learner who successfully passes both June and November exams, will receive PBS College – Credit Management Department - Fact Sheet: Part 1 - 4 the ICM Africa Certificate in Credit Management Part 3 & Part 4: After completion of the second year, the learners who have successfully passed both June and November exams, and complied with the pre-requisites of the dissertation, will be awarded the ICM Africa Advanced Certificate in Credit Management. NEXT STEPS It is our aim to ensure that every learner has academic options. As such, we are partnering with all the major HET Training institutions which can take the learner up to NQF 8 in Credit Management.
