An Innovative Program to End Homelessness
The Alex Pathways to Housing program is a Housing First Program that supports formally
homeless individuals. With a focus on harm reduction, this uniquely client-driven approach
utilizes an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team.
We are currently seeking a Medical Office Assistant for the Alex Pathways to Housing Program
to provide administrative and clinic support to the clinical team.
The scope of work and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Manage patients’ appointments and referrals;

Manage phone inquiries;

Prepare patients for medical examination;

Perform simple diagnostic procedures such as vital signs; and collect patient
specimens;

Support physician during examination;

Chart patient health records on an electronic system;

Order and maintain inventory of medical supplies.
Desired qualifications include:

Medical Office Assistant Certificate;

Minimum two years’ experience in a medical office environment;

Knowledge of medical terminology;

Excellent computer skills;

Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities;

Ability to pay attention to detail;

Strong written and verbal communication skills;

Ability to work with a formerly homeless population;

Ability to work independently and effectively with members of a multi-disciplinary team.
