VII.
Course Objectives
The student shall demonstrate an understanding the concept of homeostasis as it relates to
the cell, tissue, organ and the whole organism.
-an understanding of the basic principles of cellular physiology including cell signalling,
enzymes, metabolism and ion transport.
-an understanding of the molecular and cellular, tissue functioning of the nervous system,
endocrine system, and muscle system.
-an understanding of the relationship between the molecular, cellular, tissue and organs that
comprise the: cardiovascular system, respiratory system, renal system, digestive system
and nutrient distribution, organismal metabolism and thermoregulation, and the immune
system.
- a "hands on" technical knowledge and laboratory experience with a spectrometer, analog
to digital recording using both a physiograph and computer, including force transducers and
EKG, blood gas analyzer and microscopy to learn how these instruments relate to the
physiological subject studied in lecture and how they are used in medical situations to
evaluate an individual's health.
