Ensures that all staff and learners are aware of the procedure for searching learners for
prohibited items, as per legislation brought into force in September, 2009.

A reduction in criminal activity and the elimination of any potential complaints against

police if a staff member feels there is a risk. Anyone with
prescribed Medication should be recorded centrally.

Positive impact – the policy applies to all ages and the consent
process includes notifying parents if under 18.
Learners may request that they are searched by a member of the
opposite sex. In this case the police will be contacted.
Sikh learners may carry a knife. Religious clothing is included in
