About E-Cell, IIT Kharagpur
Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur is a non-profit student organization, dedicated
to the cause of promoting entrepreneurship among students. It invites various eminent
entrepreneurs to deliver lectures to educate students about the joys and hardships of
entrepreneurship. Guest Lectures, Business Plan workshops Case study workshops,
Knowledge Camps, patent workshops are conducted throughout the year to involve
students in activities that are essential to an entrepreneur. E-Cell also actively incubates
startup ideas by linking the right investors with the right entrepreneurs.
Competitions
Entrepreneurship Cell is searching for innovative and enterprising ideas through its
Business Plan competitions. Our competitions provide a platform for students to get
excellent professional mentorship from our experienced, varied and distinguished
mentor pool, and to showcase their ideas in front of Venture Capitalists, Angel Investors
and Industry Leaders.

Apart from the numerous Guest Lectures and workshops conducted throughout the
year E-Cell also organises the two flagship events, Global Entrepreneurship Summit and
the Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive.
Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) 2010
EAD is a pan-India entrepreneurial voyage covering 15 major cities. In each city, there
will be an Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) featuring guest lectures and
interactive workshops. EAD 2010 is expected to motivate around 8000 college
students and give them an opportunity to interact first hand with some of the most
famous entrepreneurs of their city. We sincerely hope that our initiative motivates more
students to become entrepreneurs and help India realize Vision 2020.

Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES)
Global Entrepreneurship Summit, the annual flagship event of the
Entrepreneurship Cell IIT Kharagpur, is one of the biggest entrepreneurial
platforms for academicians, new-age entrepreneurs, eminent business
personalities, venture capitalists and the students to gather at one place
and share their entrepreneurial endeavors and experiences, and to pledge
to take entrepreneurship to greater scales.
GES 2010
Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur organised GES 2010, scheduled from January 15
to 17 2010 to promote entrepreneurship on a global scale. Amidst noted guest lecturers
by personalities like Padma Shree Prof. Anil Gupta, Mr. Richard Kemp; several
workshops; final rounds of six international Competitions (Concipio, Envision, Eclairez,
Negocio, Cleantech Challenge and Pensez); Start-up Camp; Global Entrepreneurship
Conference; Freshers’ event like Bizturkz; on spot events like TGIF and Sales Pitch; VC
Panel Discussion; networking sessions and online contests like Online Video Contest, it
was an enriching experience for everyone.
GES 2010, having Cleantech as its theme, celebrated clean technologies by holding the
finals of the first ever CleanTech Challenge in India and a series of workshops focusing
on cleantech. It saw a strong international fervour in terms of participation, hosting a
Global Conference on Entrepreneurship which witnessed sharing of ideas on
entrepreneurship by Heads of entrepreneurship promoting organizations of various
universities across the globe.
GES 2010 also organised Startup Camp– an invaluable opportunity for promising
startups of the country like Oxylabs, IntelliAnts, Serenus Networks, KCG, Rang De, Buzz
Network etc to raise seed capital and hire college students as a full time employee or as
an intern. Also there was a Panel Discussion for Venture Capitalists like Alok Mittal
(Canaan), Rajiv Mantri (Navam Capital), Pallav Nadhani & Abhishek Rungta (Seeders),
Draper Fischer Jurvetson, Mr. Amit Grover (Mumbai Angels Network) etc. through
which these start-ups had an opportunity for getting funding. A networking lunch was
organised to facilitate the interaction between all of them.
Informative workshops like entrepreneurial opportunities in green business by CIIGodrej, Innovative & Contemporary revenue model in Web industry by Seeders and
Power of One by One Billion Minds also added value to the event. Along with these
WiCamp was organised by Wipro in which people share their practices and perspectives
on the subject of Innovation and Creativity through presentation, demos, videos, etc.
These participants come from diverse fields and interests. A networking lunch was also
sponsored by Wipro. Amongst these on-the-spot events like Bizturkz, Sales Pitch, Online
Video Contest and Thank God It’s Friday were organised.
GES 2011
Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2010 will be orgainsed from 14th to 16th January,
2010. GES 2011 having its theme as: Empowering the next billion: Technology &
Innovation will play host to Guest Lectures by eminent personalities, informative
workshops, Start-up Camp, Global Entrepreneurship Conference, on-the-spot events
and nonetheless the final round of our six annual Business Plan Competitions (Concipio,
Envision, Eclairez, Negocio, Cleantech Challenge and Pensez).
