COURSE OBJECTIVES:
 To acquaint students with the project management techniques and their application to
software project management such as software development plan, its associated tasks,
cost estimation, task scheduling, milestones and deliverables.
 To acquaint students with the tools and techniques for the task scheduling, cost
estimation, and tracking.
 To prepare students for future careers in IT project management.
 To acquaint and provide educational requirements of PMP/CAPM Certification Exam.
 To prepare students for CAPM Certification exam.
CERTIFICATION:
Certification is optional for this course; however it is encouraged. Students may take PMI’s
CAPM or Microsoft’s 70-178 Project management certification. Refer to the course website
for further information.
COURSE ACTIVITIES:
The course will contain lectures, discussion, homework, a research paper, case project and
test. The test will be typically short essays questions.
RESEARCH PAPER:
Students will write a research paper as described on the course website.
CASE PROJECT:
Students will work in groups and complete a Running Case project found at the end of
selected chapters.
CASE DOCUMENTATION:
Each group will be responsible for producing all necessary documentation for the Running
Case project in the selected chapters as scheduled.
CASE PRESENTATION:
Each project-group will also make presentations on the output documents of the Running
Case project as scheduled. There is no need of PowerPoint presentation, but the documents
in its native format. Each group member must be present in the presentation.

PROJECT BINDER:
At the end of the semester, each student-group will submit a folder containing the outcomes
of the Running Case project.
ATTENDANCE & DISCUSSION:
Students are expected to be present in class and participate in discussion on course
materials and case projects.

Class attendance: Regular class attendance is expected (Rolls may be called).

Missing Tests and Laboratories: Missing tests and laboratories will be counted as zero. Make-up of missing tests
and any late submission of laboratory materials will be acceptable only under extreme emergencies.

Incomplete Grade: A grade of “I” (Incomplete) will be administered only under extreme, verifiable emergency”
