Comparative Anatomy Lab Report
During the week of 5/23, we will be performing several dissections. Many of the
following vertebrate groups will be represented:






Chondrichthyes (Sharks and Rays)
Osteichthyes (Bony Fishes)
Mammals
Birds
Amphibians
Reptiles
During these dissections, you will be taking notes on the structures found in the
organ systems of these animals.
Your task will be to write a comparative anatomy lab report highlighting the
similarities and differences between these organisms. The lab report will be written
using a research paper format rather than a traditional lab write-up format.
You will describe each of the following organ systems:
 Circulatory System
 Respiratory System
 Digestive System
 Reproductive System
 Skeletal System
 Integumentary System
 Nervous System
 Muscular System
 Excretory System
You may use supplemental materials to augment your notes from the actual
dissection.
In your analysis of your results, you must include diagrams of the different organ
systems. You must also give a discussion of the evolutinalry and phylogentic
relationships of these organisms based on the physical evidence that you observe.
